Sindh govt announces to unify online taxi services, speeds up EV taxi launch in Karachi

The Sindh government has announced its decision to unify all online taxi services operating in Karachi under a single system and expedite the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) taxis.

In a key meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, officials discussed the progress of new Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers and evaluated the performance of existing centers in the city.

The meeting also considered various models for providing EV taxis to the public through easy installment plans, along with initiatives to supply scooters to working women and female students.

Inam highlighted that the Sindh government’s top priority is to provide quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transportation options for Karachi’s residents.

He stated that efforts are in progress to develop a unified, modern taxi system that will organize all taxi services under one framework.

This initiative aims to ensure safe, standardized, and legally compliant facilities for passengers and improve fare regulation, service quality, and vehicle inspection standards.
