Pakistan to send high-level delegation to US for tariff negotiations

Pakistan has decided to send a high-level delegation to the United States for negotiations regarding newly imposed tariffs by President Donald Trump.

Under the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the delegation will consist of notable business leaders and exporters.

The delegation’s mission is to establish a mutually beneficial framework following discussions on the new US tariffs on imports.

A review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sharif was held today in Islamabad, focusing on boosting national exports and assessing the implications of the new US tariffs.

Key attendees included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with several federal ministers and senior officials.

During the meeting, reports from a committee and working group were presented, outlining proposed strategies to address the tariffs.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s longstanding trade relationship with the US and expressed the government’s commitment to further strengthen this partnership.

Additionally, it was highlighted that the Pakistani embassy in the U.S. is actively engaged with the American government to facilitate ongoing discussions.

The Prime Minister focused on the importance of including prominent business figures and
