Lawyers’ protests over canals project intensify across Sindh

Lawyers’ protests over canal issues are intensifying across Sindh, with demonstrations occurring in several cities.

The protesters have called on the government to issue an immediate notification regarding their demands. They have warned that if their requests are not met, the protests could escalate further.

In Karachi, lawyers staged a protest outside Malir Court, blocking roads and causing significant traffic disruptions.

The road closures led to severe difficulties for both citizens and transporters.

The protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until the government meets their demands and issues an official notification.

In Karachi, lawyers also staged protests in Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and Thull against the alleged police brutality and the controversial canal project. They have collectively boycotted judicial proceedings as part of their protest.

Other parts of Sindh

In other parts of Sindh, protests were also held in Ubauro, Gambat, and Larkana.

In Naushahro Feroze, on the Moro National Highway at Dadu Chowk, protesters set tires on fire and chanted slogans.

The public and transporters are facing increasing challenges due to the road blockages, with perishable goods in vehicles beginning to spoil.

In Larkana, following the appeal from the High Court Circuit Bench and the District Bar Association, lawyers boycotted judicial proceedings and held a protest rally. They also imposed a ban on police entering the courts.
