The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has initiated the installation of modern electric siren systems across 29 districts to protect civilians from potential threats as tensions escalate along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to an official directive from the Civil Defense Directorate, Deputy Commissioners and Civil Defense officers have been ordered to immediately install the sirens and submit progress reports.

The sirens are intended to provide timely alerts to the public in the event of air raids or other emergencies, allowing citizens to move to safer locations.

Major urban centers like Abbottabad and Mardan have been directed to install at least four sirens each due to their large populations.

Over 50 modern electric sirens have already been distributed to district administrations for immediate deployment.

The official letter emphasized that the value of an effective warning system has increased significantly due to the current security climate.

Sirens will be strategically placed in cities and towns, including Peshawar, Swat,
Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Malakand, Charsadda, Kohat, Nowshera, and the tribal districts like North and South Waziristan, Bajaur, Khyber, and Orakzai.

Civil Defense officers have also been instructed to ensure proper placement, regular monitoring, and operational readiness of the sirens.

Officials said this system will play a crucial role in safeguarding lives by issuing timely alerts in the face of threats.
