MIRANSHAH:

North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has once again emerged as a focal point of security concerns following a targeted explosion at a bank building in the heart of Mir Ali Bazaar.

In the early hours of Friday morning, unidentified assailants used explosives to destroy a branch of a commercial bank which had been inactive for several months due to prevailing threats.

According to police sources, the branch had already been closed and its staff relocated to Bannu amid mounting security fears.
The building, however, remained vulnerable, and in the days leading up to the attack, unidentified individuals reportedly looted furniture from the premises—pointing to a premeditated act.

No casualties were reported in the blast. Authorities have launched an investigation and collected forensic evidence from the site.
While officials suspect the involvement of extremist elements, they emphasize that definitive conclusions can only be drawn after the investigation concludes.

In a related development, security agencies stationed in the Razmak sub-division have flagged potential threats and requested restrictions around their operational camp.

In response, the district administration has issued a notification banning all forms of civilian activity — residence, movement, and construction — within a one-kilometer radius of the camp.

The order clearly states that any violation will place the burden of responsibility for resultant damages on the violator.

The recent incidents have sparked anxiety among local residents and traders, who are calling for urgent and effective measures to restore peace.
