Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has vowed to bring the planners and facilitators of the recent Bannu Cantonment attack to justice, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Thursday.

COAS vows to bring planners, facilitators of Bannu attack to justice 'soon'

According to the ISPR, General Munir visited Bannu after the foiled terrorist attack by TTP militants on Tuesday. During the visit, he was briefed on the ongoing operations and the security situation of the region. He also visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Bannu to meet the injured soldiers and praised their resilience and dedication.

The COAS commended the soldiers for their high morale and unwavering resolve, emphasizing that the Pakistan Army would continue to act as a strong force against terrorism to maintain the nation’s security and stability.

General Munir extended his condolences to the families of the innocent civilians who lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack. He assured that while the attackers had been neutralized by the courageous soldiers, those responsible for planning and facilitating the attack would soon be brought to justice.

He emphasized that the brutal targeting of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, exposed the true nature of TTP terrorists as enemies of Islam.

The COAS also highlighted the importance of national unity in the fight against terrorism, reiterating that the armed forces would leave no stone unturned in safeguarding the people of Pakistan.

During his visit, General Munir recognized the swift and decisive action of the troops in neutralizing the attackers and preventing their malicious objectives from succeeding. He stated that the fight against TTP and its facilitators, backed by hostile forces, would persist until a conclusive end.

The COAS also pointed out that terrorist organizations, including the TTP, continue to operate from Afghan territory against Pakistan. He underlined that the use of foreign weapons in recent attacks is clear proof that Afghanistan remains a sanctuary for such elements.

He reiterated that no group would be allowed to destabilize Pakistan’s peace and security.

Upon his arrival in Bannu, the COAS was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar.
